Yacht was in very good condition, better than we expected from ten years old charter boat. Was equipped with big B&G chart plotter, Raymarine Autopilot and instruments. Engine was in perfect condition, working absolutely perfect. Sails were OK, reefing system was perfect (very important on Canary Islands) The only remark we have was usage of very aggressive cleaning agents (assume the chlorine stuff) for cleaning the toilets. For the first day was hard to even breath in toilet :-( But I assume that was related to the COVID-19 situation.
In general I highly recommend this broker / charter companies.
Nel complesso direi buona, qualche problemino con la barca. Le condizioni della barca benché vecchiotta erano buone, ma 2 problemi ci hanno un po' rammaricato:
1) aveva un problema ad un oblò che è stato riparato solo nella tarda serata di sabato 7 agosto non permettendoci di salpare immediatamente.
2) Le 2 cabine a prua, che sulla carta vengono pubblicizzate come triple, sono estremamente scomode per 2, figuriamoci per 3...abbiamo avuto non pochi disagi nel dormire.

Das Boot war in Ordnung, aber es gab ein Problem bei der Aufklärung über die Risiken sollte man Wale begegnen.
Niemand hat uns darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass es sehr hohe Strafen geben würde sollte man zu nahe an Wale heranfahren. Weder im Kontrakt noch an Bord des Bootes gab es irgendwelche Hinweise oder Warnungen diesbezüglich, und jetzt haben wir eine Srafanzeige am Hals, weil wir anscheinend den Walen zu nahe waren.
Dies hätte man uns unbedingt vorher bei der Charterfirma sagen müssen, aber leider war das nicht der Fall.
C’era una discrepanza di costo tra il Voucher concordato con Marenauta e la spesa effettiva. Quando ho chiesto il motivo la proprietaria della barca (si è presentata così) ha risposto che era un mio problema con l’agenzia, e fine della storia. Da notare che ci hanno chiesto 5 euro a persona per i cuscini delle sedute del pozzetto. Mai capitato in 15 anni che andiamo in barca. Oltretutto orrendi!! Per il resto buona la barca anche se molto vissuta.

Mallorca vom Wasser aus ist ein besonderes Erlebnis. Die Marina in Palma ist zentral gelegen und hat alles, was man braucht. Da die Häfen in der Sommerzeit recht voll sind, haben wir meist in den Buchten geankert.
Die Elan 434 war für ihr Alter gut gepflegt und ist auch bei etwas mehr Wind ein sehr sicheres Boot.

La società di Charter si è dimostrata organizzata ed efficiente, il check-in è stato seguito da personale Italiano molto gentile e disponibile.
Durante la navigazione abbiamo avuto un guasto meccanico, si è rotta la cinghia dell’alternatore, il contatto fornito da Marenauta è stato veloce ed ha organizzato l’intervento di un meccanico nel giro di poco tempo.
Decisamente una società molto seria.
L’unico appunto che devo fare è relativo ad un mancato allarme meteo.
Pur utilizzando app del settore per i venti e forza mare ( senza fare nomi) , e più di un servizio meteo nessuno ci ha avvisati di una tempesta in arrivo.

Fantastic Bareboat charter.
My crew of 4 and i have now all disembarked and returned to our various homes and tasks in western Canada after our 7 day Eastwards Bareboat charter from Ceinfuegos Cuba.
We left the dock at the Yachtcharter Base which is at the very beautiful and historic Club Ceinfuegos on the south coast of Cuba and motored the 2005 Lavezzi 40 Cat through the deep and well marked channel and out of the harbor.
Quickly after plotting for our first destination which for most boats in the fleet here would need to be the lighthouse at Cayo Guano del Este. (Bareboat Charters here are restricted to daylight hours due to the many reefs) i turned to look at the quickly diminishing coastline and realized how little elevation this island Nation has which is not a problem unless you have 4 people trying to get a visual fix in the daytime on a lighthouse 48 miles out perched on a rock of about 10 feet elevation the size of a few football fields.I put my faith in my new friend the B and G plotter at the helm and seven hours later it proved itself to me and from then on with just a bit of awareness of the deviation between what was showing on the Instrument and what i was actually seeing we got along fine. As usual the instruments accuracy is what i refer to as Dummied Down a bit,Something about National security i presume. It seemed to be off by about 25 Meters which is close enough but requires lots of vigilance from any available crew when spotting one of the many reefs to snorkel or dive that we encountered.
Our boat included another plotter at the navigation station which was Galaxy tablet based however it was off about the same in the other direction.The electronic charts were great and in these Cuban waters show lots of reefs and rocks but it is easy to stay away from these obstacles unless and until you need to be in those areas then just keep watch and all will be well in your world.
It was a bit choppy at anchor overnight there so early in morning we went the 8 nautical miles to Cayo Sol which we hoped and in fact was calmer and cooked breakfast before we left for Cayo Largo which is 28 nm east from there. We arrived before dusk and called the Harbourmaster for clearance onto the dock and into the Cayos (keys) which is a requirement when entering and leaving the Cayos. Cayo Largo is quite nice and you can get water dockside and minimal supplies can be found at the one small store there. Be sure to provision according to your requirements prior to departing Ceinfuegos as truly there isnt much available anywhere in the keys.
We stayed an extra day and spent New years eve in Key Largo and had quite a good time there. The next day we just sailed around and went snorkeling ect but stayed at anchor near the harbour that night. The next day we beached the bows of onto the lee side of a sandy shore and set the anchor into the beach and spent that day exploring the beach which is quite safe since the twice daily tides there are at only about 1.5 feet,the winds stay constant where they are and the beach is steep enough to ensure the important parts like the rudders and saildrives stay wet.
One of our only two issues was our Dinghy engine was very problematic and would only run reliably when tied to the stern of the boat so i had to swim for almost an hour into the wind and tow it back to the catamaran twice during the week.
I did call the charter master who quickly sent a skipper and engineer from another yacht they were operating in the keys to perform some maintenance on the dinghy and while they were there i had them check the belts of the two Yanmar diesels which were crazy loose and the adjustment bolts were rounded off presumably caused by previous charterers using the wrong size wrenches as the tools supplied did not have the correct wrenches for the task nor did it include a vice grips or an adjustable Cresent wrench. The engineer that came to assist did manage to round the bolt off a bit more on the starboard engine and get the belt a bit tighter but he advised the port engine was sufficiently adjusted and performed no maintenance to that side. Normally i would not complain but since i was able to spin both the alternator and water pump pulleys on both engines with the belts on i knew they were to loose... On our return to Ceinfuegos the Port belt shredded and came off causing an overheat complete with the shutdown of that engine and i anticipated some additional concerns docking without it but all went well and after i texted the chartermaster he had staff dockside to assist.
All things considered i am always up for a few mechanical challenges. It was a great adventure and i was glad to be fortunate enough to do it
As always i am ready to seek out the next destination and when i consider where to charter a 14 year old boat i will remember that it is very difficult to get the proper replacements or any replacement parts in Cuba and may look to book a newer boat on my next charter.

Bella zona per navigare
La barca era un catamarano FP '46,del 2006 e ne siamo stati contenti. Ottime le vele che erano nuove. I gabinetti funzionavano perfettamente e anche la cucina e il forno. Pulizia della barca discutibile. Consumi dei motori molto contenuti. Tenuta al mare e vento buonissimi. Il winch elettrico ci ha piantati dopo due giorni. Le Baleari sono bellissime, con belle rade dove passare la notte e tanti ottimi ristoranti. In generale vi sono molte altre barche in giro, ma è il periodo di vacanze più gettonato ... Visita di Palma e Ibiza molto interessante soprattutto per il valore storico e per la manutenzione dei monumenti. Attenzione alle meduse!
Ricordate che la base di Alboran risponde sul VHF al canale 8 e sono molto gentili e professionali.
Marenauta, come sempre, ha un livello molto elevato di qualità del servizio e assistenza! Grazie a tutti per i bei giorni passati.

Posto fantastico ma la barca faceva pietà
Sicuramente non consiglierei questa compagnia di charter in quando ho trovato persone poco professionali e molto approssimative che ci hanno dato informazioni errate su posti è permessi di navigazione. La barca (Elan 434 del 2008) era molto sporca è conciata da buttare via. Il timone aveva 20 cm di gioco, il pilota automatico ci ha abbandonato dopo una giornata, gli oblò non erano stagni e imbarcavano acqua e le condizioni generali erano pessime. In compenso Formentera è un posto da sogno e con il senno di poi sarebbe stato meglio fermarsi un giorno in più. Il vento è stato una costante, quasi tutti i giorni dai 10 ai 15 nodi, non fortissimo ma piacevole.

We are really sorry that the client was not satisfied with the boat. If in his opinion the boat was not clean enough or he was not satisfied with it, he could had mentioned this the day of check in, as now we cannot check what exactly was wrong. If the client tells us at embarkment that the yacht is dirty we may send again cleaning staff so they could clean it again for them.
About the pilot: we do not know what happened, but it has been functioning till now.
Ref. hatched: we really appreciate the comment, perhaps if the client had made it at check out we could had checked before the next charter where the water was entering through, this was the other client would not have the same problem. When the boat is back at the base we will ask the actual client if he was having similar problem.
So that the client stays satisfied, if he wishes to we may offer him 10% of special discount for his next charter with us at any of our bases, apart from the regular early booking (5 or 10% depending on the base he chooses) and 5% repeater.

Un ottimo Catamarano 440, persino troppo largo ! Prenotazione eccellente, servizio impeccabile. Cambusa a bordo, tutto prenotato on line. Base nautica ottima, Palma di Majorca è anche una bellissima città da visitare.

When the clients where refilling the tanks and they noticed that there was entering too much diesel, they talked to the skipper, who was also the skipper during previous charter on this yacht. So the clients only paid 170CUC according to the use they made, and our company paid the difference of 121CUC. No one here had any intention cheat.

La vacanza e' andata bene, pero' la compagnia Alboran charter non e' il massimo. Al momento del check in meno male che abbiamo controllato le vele, visto che ho trovato la randa completamente squarciata. Per colpa di questo inconveniente abbiamo perso un giorno di vela. Abbiamo chiesto un piccolo rimborso anche simbolico, ma il responsabile Fernando ci ha mandato a quel paese. Boh sono 10 anni che affitto barche in Croazia, Italia e non mi era mai successo. Dopo al momento del ritorno ho capito come possa essere successo una cosa del genere. Il Check out consiste in una serie di domande e gli operatori che dovrebbero controllare fisicamente la barca non controllato. Se può segnalare con una lettera di richiamo al suo operatore che non ci si comporta cosi' sarebbe una cosa utile per chi affitterà ancora barche con Alboran. Comunque Tenerife ci e' piaciuta e poi ci siam divertiti.
